Financial Aid

For 1st year law students, the cost of your laptop (up to $1,500) can be added to your budget for purposes of computing financial aid under the guidelines of the U.S. Office of Education. Please contact the Admissions office for more information.

Warranties

Most default warranties only cover 3 years. If you plan on using the computer you buy for the bar exam after three years of school, you probably want to postpone your purchase until August 1. For Lenovo laptops, both the 3 and 4 year warranties cover accidental damage. For Apple laptops, your MacBook Pro will come with a 1 year limited manufacture warranty. This will extend the warranty to 3 years and provide accidental damage coverage as well as 24 x 7 Phone support. The 4 year Safeware Extended Service Plan is honored but not longer available through the BYU Store. You can bring your PC to the HelpDesk (459 JRCB), or to the computer repair desk at the BYU Store (3931 WSC).

Students have access to service calls by the Help Desk. Apple laptops with hardware issues can be repaired at the BYU Store.

MacBook Pro

The BYU Store sells MacBook Pros. There are two major benefits from purchasing from BYU Store. The first is that you may be eligible to pay no sales tax. The second is that BYU offers the AppleCare+ warranty for less expensive than Apple does.
