Proud and Purple

Continuing our support for a great cause

Originally founded in 2008 by nine-year-old Cassidy Megan of Nova Scotia, Purple Day has spread around the world as an annual event to support epilepsy awareness.

John Atkins & Co. are proud to once again support Purple Day and the initiatives undertaken by people such as John Atkins’ daughter, Faith, to raise awareness about epilepsy.

Last year, Faith organized the Perfect Purple Poster contest in her school, and this year she has organized Wacky Purple Outfit day. Over 900+ students from Mount Pearl Intermediate will be wearing purple on Monday to raise awareness.

As the official Purple Day Ambassador for Newfoundland and Labrador for the second year in a row, Faith has worked hard to raise awareness outside of her school as well. Recently, after contacting Premier Kathy Dunderdale and requesting that she wear purple on March. 26th, Faith, along with ten of her classmates, was invited to meet the premier and sit in the House. Many of the members wore purple, and several spoke about epilepsy after acknowledging Faith’s efforts.

As a grassroots movement started by a youth from Nova Scotia, Purple Day has continued to grow year after year through the efforts of so many, and JAC is proud to be able to support such a cause. We’re especially proud of Faith, whose hard work remains an inspiration to us all. Keep it up!
