JAC’s Crew Takes Part

in the 2010 Olympic Torch Relay

St. John’s, NL (November 15, 2009) – John Atkins & Co. (JAC) is proud to announce that JAC’s CREW, winners of 2009 Senior Ladies Royal St. John’s Regatta, participated in the Olympic Torch Relay on Friday, November 13th, 2009.

At 3:10pm, the torch was passed to the 2009 Senior Male championship winners of the 2009 Royal St. John’s Regatta. The East Coast Maintenance Crew rowed up the side of Quidi Vidi lake, despite cold and windy conditions. The 6-person crew passed the Olympic flame on to JAC’s Crew, while onlookers along the shore cheered and screamed with excitement. JAC’s Crew took a lap around the pond before coxswain Ron Brennan passed the flame along to the next flame bearer.

JAC’s Crew was honored to be part of such an historic event which will see more than 12,000 torch bearers across Canada and more than a 45,000 km journey. The Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torch Relay began on October 30th in Victoria, British Columbia and will complete the cross-country journey at Vancouver’s BC Place on February 12, 2010.
